I am very simple....I don't have fancy things or electronic gig-its or
gadgets that make me swoon. I like on/off switches on my daughters'
toys...for the sheer madness of stopping a migraine! I love mute
buttons on remotes so I can listen to the precious voices say "Mommy, I
love you!"
SIMPLE: to me means it works when you turn it on and it stops when you
turn it off. Well, I've driven my truck I'd say 2 or 3 years...you know
about the time it gets paid off you realize the trouble begins.
My truck...which no I have not named...I sometimes call "my
baby"...just b/c we're together every day and it seems to fit (to me at
least)!
Well....meet My Baby! This is my White Ford Explorer...just right for
me with my preset (manually set) driver setting for my comfort,
favorite CD, and 2 daughters in booster seats in the back!
One December morning right when the weather started to dip into the
teens...I decided to warm it up prior to leaving the house. It decided
it wanted me to start it 3 times before it idled at an appropriate hum.
Loaded our girls up and out we went. No more troubles.
Then a couple days later I stopped by the Post Office on the way to
work, ran inside to drop off the mail, came back and my truck wouldn't
start! And boy was it cold outside!! I called my Hubby's Grandfather
(Papa) and he came to my rescue! Thankfully, the girls were staying
with their G-Grandparents for the holidays. Papa tried to jump the
battery to no avail-we loaded up in his truck and off to work I went. I
contacted the tow company and had a co-worker taxi me around for
lunch. :)
Of course the tow company called back and said ....there's no problem
we could find?!? Picked up truck, started just fine....and drove it the
rest of the week. I'm not blonde but man did I feel like my hair color
changed!
Six days later my truck did it again....this time I had our girls with
me. Tow truck picked us up on the side of the road and we had family
drive us home. We had the truck towed to the house so we could get
someone to look at it. Ended up being the fuel filter-but we didn't own
the release tool you have to have to disconnect and reconnect the
filter.....so was towed a 3rd time-this time to the shop.
Replaced the Fuel Filter $50, worked fine for a few days then needed a
new battery $96.
Drove fine for a few more days...then went out to leave for lunch on a
Friday and it wouldn't start again! I'm a simple girl remember??? So
this was driving me insane!!!! I had a co-worker take me home on our
lunch break and I borrowed my father's car "old faithful" we call
her....little extra car they keep around for such instances!
Let my truck sit Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Sunday afternoon Hubby &
I came to visit my baby at work...of course it started right up for
him!!! SO I followed him driving it and me behind him in his truck to
the repair shop.
So my baby is currently in the bay getting a once over....hopefully it
won't be too much to fix it....on top of the @ $150.00 we've spent so
far!
So much for being simple!!!
